“Blind dates” at the Churdan Public Library

Single? In a relationship?  Looking for someone new to spark your interest? No matter! Now through Friday, Feb. 14, patrons of the Churdan Public Library are invited to the library for have a rendezvous (or as many as they like).

Adventurous spirits can check out a rendezvous book at the library. The books are all wrapped in paper, and patrons won’t know the identity of their blind date until they get it home. Will it be fiction or non-fiction; funny, informative, entertaining or heart-breaking? “Spend some time getting to know your date. There will be no uncomfortable questions to answer, no awkward lulls in the conversation, no need to put on nice shoes (or even get out of your pajamas). Sure, you might be disappointed; but then again…you may end up having a great time with something you would otherwise never have ventured to read,” library director Shari Minnehan said.

Inside each book is a ‘Rate Your Blind Date’ slip: readers can say whatever they want about it.

“Even if your date turns out to be a dud, (don’t worry, its feelings won’t be hurt), all is not lost,” Minnehan said. Each slip returned will be an entry into a drawing; two lucky “blind daters” will win a prize. “Stop by the Churdan Library between now and Feb. 14. You might get lucky, if not in love, then perhaps in literature,” Minnehan added.
